IILM was established in 1996, with the mandate of providing management education of the highest quality and to become a centre of excellence in value-based management education, training, research and consultancy. IILM develops tomorrow's business leaders through integrated learning and industry-academic partnerships. As an institute, IILM stands committed to retaining flexibility and responsiveness to management needs.

IILM believes in holistic development of the students and their participation in an education program, which instills in them professionalism, ability to work hard, take decisions and develop high thinking. The institute also exposes the students to all aspects of the economy and to its various facets like environment, societal values, social responsibility and human value system.

IILM College has faculty student ratio of 1:10 who have adequate academic qualifications and experiences from leading national and international universities and senior corporate positions. They bring with them varied and extensive industry and research experience, ensuring the right academia-industry interface that IILM is proud of. All faculty members play an important role in administering the diverse academic and non-academic activities of the Institute.

In order to accomplish its mission, IILM collaborated with University of Bradford in 1996 to offer undergraduate courses in the area of Management at the Undergraduate level at the Campus. The IILM College follows the same programme structure as the University of Bradford. Bradford provides IILM College with their curriculum, syllabi, study material, lists of recommended texts, business games and case studies for respective courses. Faculty members and administrative staff from Bradford visit IILM to assist in the coordination of the courses and teaching. There is a regular bilateral faculty and staff exchange between the School of Management, University of Bradford and IILM for academic and administrative purposes. Students are permitted to transfer to Bradford University anytime after completing the first year at IILM. The University of Bradford and IILM also jointly sponsor two students each batch for a one month visit to the University of Bradford. This gives a tremendous academic exposure to the students and fosters a sense of cross cultural learning. Selection for this scholarship is based on merit.
