IILM since inception has always believed in overall development of students and educating them holistically rather than just making them literate in the area of management. To achieve this objective IILM offers Total Personality Development and Elective Courses which help in honing the skills beyond classrooms and board rooms.

Total Personality Development

The Total Personality Development program is an integral part of the education system at IILM College. Developing life and social skills is the main aim of this program. Which students in soft skills which are the building blocks of success in life. Spread over three years of undergraduate education, Total personality development program consists of several courses. These courses are conducted by reputed professionals and professional institutes of Delhi.

The program caters to a small batch of students at a time in order to offer personalized attention to each student.

The TPD courses are conducted throughout the year with the aim to help build a positive persona. These courses are conducted in workshop mode. Brief descriptions of the program offered are as under:

Public Speaking and Personal Grooming

The objective of this course is to provide students with an integrated module of personality development emphasizing those areas which are essential for the overall growth and development of a confident and well-groomed professional. The course content is divided into three basic modules of Physical Appearance, Etiquette and Personality Development. The course helps to bring distinctiveness in one's personality.

Theatre

A highly interactive module where students learn the basics of the theatre. The highpoint of the course is that it involves various aspects of personality development and communication too. For example-voice modulation, overcoming inhibition, concentration and imagination.

Art Appreciation

The art appreciation course is conducted in collaboration of leading art galleries of Delhi . It involves the understanding the nuances of modern and traditional art, the concepts of aesthetics, and the importance of art in modern life. The students also get to know the important artists of India and the world.

Western Dance

It includes the different types of dance. Dance and training sessions are held by famous dancers and choreographers.

Yoga

Yoga is a life of self -discipline based on "simple living and high thinking ". The course is intended to teach budding managers the art of proper exercise, proper breathing, relaxation, regularized diet, positive thinking and meditation. It also helps students stay calm and concentrate during exams.

Healthy Eating

It goes without saying that healthy eating leads to healthy minds. Famous dieticians & nutritionists of leading hospitals conduct the sessions in order to explain the link between proper healthy eating with healthy mind.

Aerobics

Aerobics is the mix of dance and exercise which has become popular among the young generation. It helps them to keep fit and in good shape.

Elective Courses

 

At IILM College there are 12 value addition courses apart from Bradford courses. These courses give emphasis to practical aspects of business. These courses are a combination of business-oriented and skill-development courses. These courses are conducted by experienced faculty members and experts from industry. Each student has to take up two courses in every semester. The four courses below compulsory for students of the 1st year.


Mathematics for Business Decisions

Mathematics for Business Decisions is designed to introduce the basic mathematical skills needed to understand, analyze, and solve mathematical problems encountered in business and finance, and in investment decision making. The course also includes calculus which is required in business decision.

The program prepares students to acquire skills for problem-solving strategies in business. Examples of strategies that students should employ are: estimate, look for a pattern, write an equation, guess and test, work backward, draw a picture or diagram, make a list or table, use models, act out the problem, and solve a related but simpler problem.

IMAGE- Interactive, Mannerisms, Attire, Grooming and Etiquette

As the name suggests, IMAGE is a soft skill course which aims to inculcate proper corporate grooming and etiquette. The course helps to build self esteem of a person so that all things combined, a confident persona emerges. The course talks about stress and how to handle & reduce stress. The course is conducted by noted expert Ms. Priya Warrick of Warrick Finishing School.

Communications in Business

Top managers in the world are known for top class business communication skills. The course covers all aspects of communication-writing and reading reports, letters, proposals and sharpening presentation skills. The course has been designed to develop communication skills through interactive and practice sessions. The course is being conducted by Perfect Relations which is a well known PR agency for developing communications strategy for the corporate.


IT Applications in Business

The primary objective of this course is to build a strong foundation of computer vocabulary, concepts, and improve computing skills required in business. This course is being offered by NIIT.

On completion of this course, the successful student will be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of concepts and vocabulary related to computer. Students will be able to demonstrate fundamental proficiency using Microsoft Windows XP and will be able to access, search and retrieve relevant information from the internet.

The following courses are offered on registration basis. Students will have to get themselves registered for these courses. For each semester student can register up to two courses. These courses will be offered only if a minimum of 15 students have registered for the same.

Management 360°

The objectives of Management 360° would include:

  • Ability to understand group and team working.
  • Tapping Leadership Potential and Skills
  • Attain conceptual clarity on fundamental managerial principles and roles.
  • Appreciation of Learning through Service- Consultancy Projects.

The teaching method is interactive and experiential and requires students to participate in project teams, case studies, group and individual exercises, reflection and written assignments and presentations along with lecture sessions.

 

The IILM Community

IILM College students find that from the day one of the orientation classes that they have a ready made community-a distinctive strength fostered by rigorous classes, team projects and a strong bonding between the faculty and the students. To foster the belongingness in the students, IILM provides a platform to students to pursue both academic and non academic interests and hence students are expected to actively be a member of societies; to help students adjust and become a part of IILM, we offer counseling facilities and to be a part of IILM Community even after graduating, we have a strong Alumni Association.

Societies

Extracurricular activities are the elixir of the education process. The institute has a host of societies from which the student can choose and obtain membership. The students of IILM have to join at least one of these societies, with a maximum of three according to their areas of interest.

Each society is student driven and conducts activities regularly. The societies are geared towards helping the students pursue their creativity and hone their management skills. The students are given a particular budget around which they plan their activities the year round.

Debating

The vibrant debating society holds debates at the institute regularly. Competitions are organized by the society yearly where the best Business Schools from across the country participate.

Dramatics

Theatre workshops for the members of the society are conducted by some of the prominent theatre personalities. The learning and efforts of the society are culminated in a full-length play at the end of year.

Music and Dance

The music and dance society holds intra-college music events. Experts of repute hone the skills of the members of this society.

Sports

Various sports are encouraged at IILM. The institute provides facilities, coaches and kits to members for various games like cricket, badminton, basketball, tennis, carom, and chess. Students are expected to participate in intra college and intercollege tournaments held from time to time.

Cultural Society

The society organizes different cultural events to help students understand and appreciate the Indian art and culture.

Social Services

The society is to sensitize the students towards caring for others. Students organize visits to NGOs; organize food, medicine, books for the needy. The society organizes blood donation camps at the institute.

Placement

The society organizes summer and final placements for students who require placements. In addition, it organizes workshops like resume building, interview skills, personality development.

Counseling

Students can avail of counseling facilities on personal, career as well as academic matters from professionally qualified counselors available for this very purpose on campus. Personal counseling is done to assist you in adjustment with self, and the environment.

In career counseling we help students in deciding on options for higher studies, both in India and abroad and finding the appropriate course in line with needs, requirements and interests.

Parents Programme

In addition to helping students sharpen their skills , IILM also counts parents as a part of the IILM Community and takes initiative to organise various Parent's Programs, where parents attend lectures given by eminent people along with their wards. Parents also meet faculty members to discuss their wards progress and performance.

IILM Founder's Day Lecture

IILM founder's day lecture is an important occasion when leading personalities of India and abroad share their thoughts with the IILM family. This year Dr. V. Krishnamurthy who is the chairman of National Manufacturing Competitiveness council spoke about the challenges of manufacturing competitiveness in India . Dr. Krishnamurthy is also the ex-chairman of BHEL, Maruti and SAIL. Mr. Wajahat Habibullah, Chief Information Commissioner, Govt. of India presided the meeting.In the pervious year, His Holiness Dalai Lama spoke of the importance of non violence in modern life.

Location Safe Environment

IILM College Gurgaon is situated in the heart of the Millennium City. Situated at 20 minutes drive from South Delhi, it is well connected to the International and Domestic Airports as well as the National Highway 8. Gurgaon is the hub of major Business Process Outsourcing Units and headquarters of large Business houses like Unitech, MNCs like HUL and Industries like Hero Honda, Maruti Udyog Limited etc. This enables the College to organize more Industry-student interface.

Internationally recognized degree

Many students aiming at education abroad find it difficult to uproot themselves at the age of 17 from India and look westwards but the recognition of our degree makes it easy for students to get the same quality of education in their own country and that too at a lesser cost.

IILM offers a very safe and conducive environment for learning. Students are permitted into the campus only on showing their Identity Cards. Trespassers are prohibited, thus ensuring a safe environment for the students. Also in the first year girls and boys are offered a workshop on self defense which prepares them for any unforeseen event.

Transfer Facility

IILM College provides an opportunity to students to transfer to leading universities in the USA and the UK after completing 1 or 2 years at IILM.

IILM alumni recommend that initial years spent at IILM prepare them for the international systems of education. Our students are known to have excelled in universities they have opted for.

The Undergraduate Programme offered at IILM is so extensive and comprehensive that the students on graduation are well equipped to enter into their businesses and excel in the same. All areas of Management are dealt with in the span of three years and also the personality development programmes offered at IILM equip the students to take up any challenges of the business world.

The University of Bradford awards offered in collaboration with IILM are of an equivalent standard to UK based awards as evidenced by both Internal Quality Assured processes of the University, and externally by the UK Quality Assurance Agency. The awards, therefore, are deemed ‘equivalent'. The University of Bradford 's origins date back to 1860, when it was founded as The Bradford Technical College. The University received its Royal Charter in 1966.

The association of Indian Universities' (AIU) website ( http://www.aiuweb.org/content.aspx?ID29 ) lists the accredited foreign universities, among others, as given in the Commonwealth Universities Handbook (http;//www.acu.ac.uk).The University of Bradford is listed here.

IILM has applied for approval of the collaboration with the University of Bradford, UK to the University Grants Commission vide our application dated November 29, 2005. A copy of the application and the interim response from the University Grants Commission is available on our website, www.ubs.iilm.edu. Similarly, we have also applied to the All India Council for Technical Education on March 7, 2006 for approval. A copy of our application to the AICTE is available on our website.
